Khamenei Reappoints Iran Judiciary Chief Who Threatens Israel

Current July 6 Israel-time reporting says Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei reappointed Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei as judiciary chief for a second five-year term after a decree dated July 4. The New Region reports that Ejei used a Sunday speech aired by IRIB to threaten the United States and Israel with retaliation that he framed as proportionate punishment, while Xinhua says Khamenei's June 28 guidance told the judiciary to pursue U.S. and Israeli actions from the recent war in domestic and international courts. Iran International notes Ejei's U.S. sanctions and long record in Iran's security and judicial apparatus. Israel should treat the legal rhetoric as part of Tehran's pressure campaign while keeping deterrence, sanctions enforcement and diplomacy anchored in the regime's real record.
