Shin Bet to Join Arab-Crime Fight Under Ben Gvir Plan

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir formally announced that Shin Bet will enter the fight against crime in Israel's Arab community. The move, advanced with Social Equality Minister May Golan, is expected to go to the government for approval on Sunday and would fund Shin Bet, police and prison-service enforcement, intelligence and operational capabilities from Program 550 money. Current reporting says David Zini's Shin Bet will set up a separate department and recruit about 500 workers for the mission. The move shifts a domestic-crime campaign toward national-security tools after years of murders, weapons trafficking and protection rackets inside Israeli towns.
