Psychology Antisemitism Training Program Launches in US
A first-party post by Fordham psychologist Dean McKay published the Academic Engagement Network's July 7 release announcing a multi-state pilot to train doctoral psychology faculty on recognizing antisemitism and caring for Jewish patients. The program is led by Miri Bar-Halpern of Harvard Medical School and McKay, beginning with psychology programs in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts through curriculum development, faculty workshops and a community of practice. The announcement says the goal is competent, evidence-based care and a national model for training clinicians on Jewish identity, contemporary antisemitism and traumatic invalidation. The project answers reports of anti-Israel and anti-Jewish bias in mental-health training while affirming that Zionism and Jewish peoplehood should be handled accurately, not caricatured, in clinical education.
