JPPI Poll Finds Israeli Trust in Trump on Iran at Record 7 Percent
The Jewish People Policy Institute's July 2026 Israeli Society Index found only 7 percent of Israelis express a great deal of trust in President Donald Trump to do the right thing for U.S.-Israel relations, down from 32 percent in January 2025, 19 percent in April, and 12 percent in June, with 45 percent now expressing no trust and 41 percent some trust. The findings followed the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, U.S. strikes on more than 80 Iranian targets, and Trump's Ankara declaration that the ceasefire was over. Sixty-eight percent of Israelis view the Iran deal as bad for Israel, including 56 percent who called it very bad, up from 34 percent the prior month. By contrast, 63 percent said the Israel-Lebanon framework is good for Israel, drawing support across political lines. On Gaza, 43 percent favor economic and diplomatic pressure on Hamas while 35 percent back renewed military operations.
