Netanyahu Warns Iran Threat Endures, Turkey F-35 Sale Would Destabilize Region
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in U.S. television interviews that the Iranian nuclear threat remains a central U.S.-Israel concern even after strikes pushed back Tehran's immediate weapons capacity. He said Israel and the United States destroyed infrastructure, centrifuges, factories and senior scientists tied to Iran's weapons program, while warning that Tehran's ambition remains and that any deal must keep Iran from nuclear arms. Netanyahu also opposed supplying F-35 jets to Turkey, saying President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government is hostile to Israel, backs the Hamas terrorist organization and threatens the regional balance. He framed candid disagreements with Washington as part of a strong alliance, including arguments over Iran, Turkey and Gaza demilitarization.
