Hegseth Cancels Israel Visit as Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Over

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called off his planned Wednesday trip to Israel to meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, saying he was recalled to Washington amid renewed U.S.-Iran fighting. Reports said the visit was set to focus on the Iran war, Gaza and Israeli objections to a proposed U.S. sale of F-35 fighters to Turkey. The cancellation came hours after President Donald Trump said in Ankara that the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding was over, called Iran's leadership scum and threatened new strikes that night, following U.S. attacks on more than 80 Iranian targets. Netanyahu said the postponement could mean something good for Israel while consultations with Washington continued.
