Netanyahu Says Turkey F-35 Sale Would Bring Aggression
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used a U.S. television interview Tuesday night to sharpen Israel's warning against a possible U.S. F-35 sale to Turkey. He said he had spoken with President Donald Trump several times and argued that Erdogan's government is not friendly to Israel, supports Hamas, jails opponents and journalists, threatens Israel and Greece, and is tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Netanyahu said Turkey has aggressive aspirations, including reviving Ottoman-era influence over Syria, parts of Jordan, Israel and Gulf states, and warned that giving such a regime F-35s would damage the Middle East balance and bring aggression. The remarks add a same-day Israeli security warning as Ankara seeks renewed access to advanced American aircraft.
