Poll Finds U.S. Jews Less Safe and Facing Harassment After Oct. 7

A June 11-17 national survey of 3,040 U.S. adults, including 1,022 Jewish adults, found that about six in ten Jewish adults feel less safe than before Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. About three in ten said they or someone in their household experienced physical assault, verbal abuse, online harassment or property damage in the past year because of their Jewish background. The poll also found about four in ten are less likely to wear, carry or display items identifying them as Jewish. The findings fit a post-Oct. 7 diaspora-security environment marked by targeted attacks on Jewish spaces and sharper disputes over Israel.
