Iran and Oman Discuss Hormuz Safe-Passage Mechanism

Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said Saturday that he and Oman's Sayyid Badr Albusaidi discussed mechanisms for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz under the Islamabad memorandum, while regional reporting said Qatar joined talks on opening an international median lane for free movement. The diplomacy followed U.S. demands that Tehran publicly guarantee the waterway stays open and stop attacks on commercial shipping. For Israel, the test is whether pressure restrains the Iranian regime without granting Tehran control over a strategic choke point tied to the Iran front, global energy and Israeli maritime resilience.
