Trump Reportedly Asks Netanyahu to Begin Syria and Lebanon Redeployment

U.S. and Israeli officials said President Donald Trump asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a Thursday call to begin redeploying Israeli forces out of Syria and take a similar step in Lebanon. Netanyahu’s office said he stressed Israel’s need to retain security zones on both borders and called the reported characterization of Trump’s remarks distorted. Israeli officials say withdrawals in Lebanon must follow verified removal of Hezbollah weapons and military infrastructure from pilot zones. IDF sources said they were unfamiliar with the reported request and saw no change on the ground.
