Iran’s Chief Rabbi Joins Muslim-Nation Rabbis at European Parliament

Chief Rabbi of Iran Yehuda Gerami joined rabbis serving Jewish communities in Muslim-majority countries for a Brussels conference that included a session inside the European Parliament. The delegation discussed religious freedom and the needs of Jewish communities, including kosher food, mikvahs, marriage and burial, with senior EU officials. European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica said Jewish life has coexisted with Muslim majorities for centuries and that threatened minorities must be protected. EU antisemitism coordinator Katharina von Schnurbein pledged continued support for Jewish communities and for Jews to wear a kippah openly and safely across Europe.
