Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said he will meet Jewish chess grandmaster Judit Polgár on Monday and ask whether she is prepared to serve as Hungary's president until a new constitution is adopted. The announcement followed an open letter from 16 figures in science, culture and sport urging parliament to elect Polgár. Magyar praised her achievement and integrity, noting that she led the women's world rankings for 26 years and reached the overall world top 10. President Tamás Sulyok's term ends at midnight after he signed a constitutional amendment terminating his mandate.
