High-Wire Artists Rehearse Above Jerusalem for 65th Israel Festival

Four high-wire artists completed a final dress rehearsal above Jerusalem's Hinnom Valley ahead of Tuesday's opening of the 65th Israel Festival. The aerial work, Held By a String, stretches four lines over the valley between eastern and western Jerusalem and opens to the public at 4:30 p.m., with the main performance at 6 p.m. The production revisits the festival's 1987 opening, when French high-wire artist Philippe Petit crossed the same valley. The Jerusalem Orchestra East & West and the Jerusalem Youth Chorus are scheduled to accompany the performance with an original work conducted by Tom Cohen.
