U.S. Sets August 4-6 Rome Talks for Israel-Lebanon Framework

A U.S. State Department official said Israel and Lebanon will hold their next American-mediated talks in Rome from August 4 through August 6. Technical teams will focus on implementing the Trilateral Framework, expanding pilot zones in southern Lebanon and resolving outstanding border issues. The southern pilot zones are designed to restore Lebanese state authority and prevent armed groups, including Hezbollah, from reestablishing control near Israel's border. The official said the Trump administration remains committed to the process after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's White House meeting last week.
