Police Issue 5,924 Citations in Nationwide Traffic Operation

Israel Police said it completed a nationwide traffic-enforcement operation on Thursday, issuing 5,924 citations for violations that endanger road users. Hundreds of officers and volunteers recorded 1,072 phone and distracted-driving offenses, 211 speeding violations, 116 red-light violations and 165 failures to yield to pedestrians. Police also caught 14 drivers operating while disqualified and 17 unlicensed drivers, suspended 42 licenses, impounded 81 vehicles and made 11 arrests. Officials said tactical cameras documented another 1,994 violations, 1,599 speed and red-light citations were processed for mailing, and driving instructors were recorded using phones during lessons.
