Tal Inbar Named Apple Israel CEO as Rony Friedman Takes Global Chip-AI Role

Apple appointed Tal Inbar to lead its research and development center in Israel, succeeding Rony Friedman after nine years. Friedman will remain at Apple to head a new global Chip-AI group that will use artificial intelligence in the design of new chips. Inbar joined Apple when it acquired Israeli flash-memory developer Anobit in 2012 and has led work on storage controllers, Apple Watch systems-on-chip, Apple's Pro, Max and Ultra M-series processors, and most recently data-center silicon. He will continue overseeing the Israeli storage and system-on-chip engineering teams while reporting, as Friedman did, to Silicon Engineering vice president Sribalan Santhanam.
