Nazareth Marks 77 Days Without a Murder Amid Intensified Police Operations

Nazareth has gone 77 consecutive days without a murder after previously recording killings almost every week and leading Israeli cities in homicides. Northern District police said hundreds of officers are operating continuously across most neighborhoods, with Border Police, National Guard, Yamam and Gideonim units reinforcing the effort. Over the past two weeks, officers seized about 13 handguns, magazines and ammunition; on August 12 they removed cameras allegedly used by the Bakri crime organization to monitor central roads. Emekim District commander Brig. Gen. Ran Ofir said recent arrests, indictments and weapons seizures followed operations against major criminal figures, while police cautioned that the road ahead remains long.
