Report: Half of 1,344 Recorded Child Sexual-Harm Cases Were Within Families

A 2025 annual report by Home for Every Child recorded 1,344 sexual-harm incidents handled by seven Meital treatment centers, with half occurring within families. Another 35% involved someone known to the child, 10% a complete stranger, and 5% an unknown or other person. The centers treated 1,179 children in 2025, up from 702 in 2019; among victim cases, 67% were girls and the average age was 13. The report also found 41% of harm occurred in the child's home and 20% in homes of relatives, neighbors, or acquaintances.
