San Francisco Data Show Jews Targeted in 43% of First-Half Hate Crimes

San Francisco police data recorded 14 investigated hate crimes from January 1 through June 30, including six, or 42.9%, involving anti-Jewish bias. All six anti-Jewish cases involved graffiti, with three at schools, one at a synagogue, one at a residence targeting an individual, and one on a street targeting the government. Jews were targeted in 10 of the city's 45 investigated hate crimes in 2025. Pew estimates Jews comprise 2% of the metropolitan population, and ADL regional director Marc Levine called the disparity deeply troubling.
