IDF Locates Remains of Yehuda Katz, Last Missing Soldier of 1982 Sultan Yacoub Battle

The IDF located the remains of Sgt. First Class Yehuda Katz, the last soldier missing from the 1982 Battle of Sultan Yacoub, and its representatives informed his family of the findings on Tuesday morning. The military said the locating was carried out recently during operational activity. Katz disappeared on June 11, 1982, the sixth day of the First Lebanon War, in a battle against Syrian forces in which 20 Israeli soldiers were killed and six were listed as missing. His was the last of the three Sultan Yacoub cases to remain open, after Zachary Baumel's remains were returned in 2019 and Zvi Feldman was recovered in May 2025.
