The United Arab Emirates issued a nationwide alert on Tuesday evening after its air defense systems detected a missile threat directed at the country, according to the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority. The authority told residents to remain in a safe location and to follow warnings and updates issued through official channels. The Ministry of Defense said minutes later that any sounds heard were the result of air defense interception operations, and affirmed its full readiness to respond to any threat and safeguard the country's sovereignty, security, and stability. Neither body identified the source of the launch, the number of projectiles, or any resulting damage or casualties.
