Court Dismisses Mea Shearim Residents’ Blue Line Station Petition

Jerusalem District Court Judge Haya Zandberg dismissed a petition challenging entrances for two planned underground Blue Line light-rail stations in Mea Shearim and Geula, ruling that it was filed too late. Petitioners said they opposed the station entrances, not the underground line itself, and argued that thousands of residents had not been properly summoned to objections hearings. The court acknowledged a possible problem with service of notice but found it insufficient to change the outcome. Community representative Yoelish Krausz said residents may appeal to the Supreme Court and explicitly rejected violence and vandalism as a response.
