Mike Mazzei Wins Oklahoma Republican Governor Runoff

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Mike Mazzei standing at a clear lectern with a microphone, red curtains, and an Oklahoma flag behind him, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

Mike Mazzei has won Oklahoma’s Republican gubernatorial runoff, defeating Attorney General Gentner Drummond and advancing to the November 3 general election. The Tulsa financial adviser and former state senator will face Democrat Cyndi Munson and independents Robert E. Brooks, Orlando Lynn Bush and Jerry Griffin. At his Tulsa watch party, Mazzei thanked Republican supporters and President Donald Trump, and said decisions as governor would be tested against the Bible, Constitution and state affordability. Oklahoma election officials say results remain unofficial, provisional totals will be added after 5 p.m. August 28, and statewide certification is scheduled for September 1.
