Pauline Hanson's One Nation named investment banker Mike Newman its NSW leader and first lower-house candidate for the March 13, 2027 state election. Newman, 54, will contest Cessnock in the Hunter Valley, a seat Labor has held for 38 years; incumbent Clayton Barr won by 23.4 points in 2023. Former federal candidate, coal miner and cattle farmer Stuart Bonds, 40, will lead the party's upper-house ticket. Newman, who spent 25 years in Japan and served as an Investment NSW trade commissioner, said the campaign would focus on living costs, housing, regional communities and rural industries.
