Berlin's government said it rejected an extortion attempt following a cyberattack on the state network, after a special Senate session on Friday. Investigators found additional data exfiltration from the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and Environment between August 7 and 12, before two departments were disconnected on August 14. The content and volume remain under review, and officials said personal or other non-public data may be involved. Berlin's criminal police, prosecutors and federal security authorities are investigating while network scans, forensic work and the city's ICT emergency task force continue.
