Ashdod Completes 80,000-Smart-Water-Meter Rollout

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of a technician examining a newly installed smart water meter in Ashdod, with apartment buildings and municipal water pipes behind, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

Yuvalim Ashdod completed the replacement of water meters across the city with about 80,000 smart meters in a NIS 40 million project funded by the municipal water and sewerage corporation at no cost to residents. The system provides continuous remote readings and sends residents SMS alerts when it detects abnormal use or possible leaks. The corporation said the meters have already saved residents about NIS 3.6 million while improving water-loss control and service.
