Australia Funds 60.5 Prostate Cancer Nurse Positions With $46.5 Million

Australia will provide $46.5 million over five years to expand the McGrath Cancer Care Nurse service to prostate cancer, Health Minister Mark Butler announced. The program will fund 60.5 full-time-equivalent prostate cancer nurse positions nationwide from July 1, 2027, covering 2027-28 through 2031-32. The government said 128 newly placed McGrath nurses had supported 7,522 patients by July 1, 2026. The expanded service will work with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, as more than 28,000 Australian men were estimated to receive a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2025.
