South Africa Raises Diesel by Up to R3.15 as September Fuel Prices Jump

South Africa’s Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources said diesel will rise by R2.939 a litre for 0.05% sulphur and R3.149 for 0.005% sulphur from September 2. It said Brent crude rose from $82.37 to $87.85 a barrel amid U.S.–Iran tensions, uncertainty over Strait of Hormuz flows and higher shipping costs. The release body lists both petrol grades rising R1.29 a litre, while its official graphic says R1.34; the release’s price components also total about R1.34. Wholesale illuminating paraffin rises R2.13 a litre and maximum retail LPG rises R0.69 a kilogram nationally, or R0.79 in Western Cape.
