Security Forces Neutralize Terrorist in Damascus Gate Stabbing Attempt

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of four Israeli security officers escorting a man in a black shirt beside a red vehicle at night near a stone wall and trees, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

Police said a terrorist approached a security force near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City early Friday morning and attempted to stab police officers and other security personnel. Officers and security personnel neutralized the attacker, and no injuries among police officers had been reported when the account was published. The report did not identify the attacker, describe the attacker’s condition or give an exact time for the attempted attack. It also did not specify the weapon used beyond reporting an attempted stabbing or say whether any civilians were present.
