Thailand Puts 49 Data Centre Projects on Hold Pending New Rules

Thailand halted work on about 49 data centre projects and paused approval decisions on more than 117 pending applications while the government prepares unified rules. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul opened a Data Center Business Policy Committee meeting at Government House on September 4 to establish a national framework. Officials said the criteria, due within one month, will address electricity and water use, diesel storage, project location and safety. The review follows concern over fuel stockpiles at some facilities and is intended to apply consistent requirements to current and proposed centres.
