Residents demonstrated in Doolow and Garbahaarrey in Somalia’s Gedo region on Saturday over an alleged Turkish drone strike on the home of former custodial corps commander Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden, known as Shub. Local reporting said hundreds joined the peaceful Doolow protest, while footage showed some participants burning Turkish and Egyptian flags. Protesters demanded an independent investigation, and Doolow district commissioner Mohamed Lafey joined the demonstration. Somalia’s federal government denied involvement and said preliminary security information indicated that explosives being prepared inside the house caused the blast; no independent account has confirmed either explanation.
