U.S. Sets September 29 Ban on Canadian Alcohol, Dairy Products and Motorcycles

President Donald Trump signed three proclamations excluding specified Canadian alcohol, dairy products and motorcycles from U.S. importation beginning at 12:01 a.m. ET on September 29. The covered goods include packaged beer, wine and spirits; whey products, molasses and non-alcoholic beer; and motorcycles, mopeds and cycles with reciprocating internal-combustion engines over 800 cc. Goods imported before the deadline but not yet entered for consumption remain subject to the existing 50% duty. The White House said the measures respond to what it calls Canada’s continued discriminatory trade practices.
