Vučić Says Serbia’s Snap Parliamentary Election Will Be October 25

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić seated with clasped hands during a red-lit television studio interview, rendered in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel strokes.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said snap parliamentary elections will be held on October 25. He said the government’s reasoned proposal to dissolve the National Assembly had reached him and that at noon on September 9 he would issue the dissolution decree and election decision. Vučić described the timetable as a 45-day campaign and said voters would have the opportunity to state their will. His remarks came in a televised evening interview before the announced legal acts were signed, so the October 25 date remained a presidential announcement at the time of publication.
