Bangladesh Reports 1,002 Measles and Suspected-Case Deaths Since March

Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Health Services reported that 1,002 people had died in confirmed measles cases or with suspected measles symptoms since March 15. The September 9 bulletin recorded 902 deaths among suspected cases and 100 among confirmed cases. It also listed 167,580 suspected cases and 19,904 confirmed cases, for a combined 187,484. During the latest 24-hour reporting period, authorities recorded three deaths among suspected cases, 1,119 new suspected cases and 69 new confirmed cases; one of the deaths was in Dhaka Division and two were in Mymensingh Division.
