Paraguay and Venezuela Sign Joint Communiqué to Rebuild Bilateral Ties

Paraguay and Venezuela signed a joint communiqué at Miraflores Palace in Caracas, opening a process to rebuild diplomatic and consular relations severed in January 2025. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia and Paraguayan Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez signed in the presence of Presidents Delcy Rodríguez and Santiago Peña. The governments said the new stage would rest on mutual respect, self-determination and sovereignty while expanding cooperation and contacts between productive and commercial sectors. Peña said the dialogue would focus on citizens’ welfare; the meeting also addressed economic ties and action against transnational organized crime.
