Former Sdot Negev Candidate Avikar Backs Almasi in Council Race

David Avikar, who ran for head of the Sdot Negev Regional Council in 2024, said at a joint news conference Thursday that he will not contest the November 3 special election and will support acting council head Assi Almasi. Avikar said talks with Almasi showed their priorities aligned and that he intends to work alongside him. The two named expansion of the council's communities and education among their shared goals. Almasi described the endorsement as a step toward bringing the council's communities together as the campaign develops.
