Yehuda Atlas, Author of 'And This Child Is Me', Dies at 89

Children's author and poet Yehuda Atlas died on Thursday at 89, Tel Aviv's Ichilov Medical Center announced, passing on a family statement that called him "an eternal child until his last moments." Born in 1937 on Moshav Ein Iron, Atlas worked for 35 years as a journalist and editor at Yedioth Ahronoth and wrote about 40 books for children and adults. His 1977 collection "And This Child Is Me," short poems about everyday life told from a child's point of view, won the Ze'ev Prize and became an Israeli classic. President Isaac Herzog said the fruits of his talent would accompany Israel's children for generations.
