Trump Calls Norway Corrupt and Criticizes Nobel Award to Navi Pillay

U.S. President Donald Trump called Norway corrupt during a rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday evening, as he criticized the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to South African jurist Navi Pillay. Trump said he should have received eight Nobel Prizes and dismissed Pillay as “someone nobody has heard of.” The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced Pillay as the 2026 laureate on October 9, citing her efforts to promote peace and international law. Pillay previously served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and chaired the UN commission of inquiry concerning Israel and the Palestinian territory.
