Water Authority Reports Century-Low Two-Season Water Availability in Kinneret

The Water Authority’s Hydrological Service has published a rainy-season summary showing about 208 million cubic metres of water available to the Kinneret across two consecutive seasons, the lowest combined figure in 100 years of measurement. The 2025/26 season contributed approximately 142 million cubic metres through April, following the severe 2024/25 drought. National rainfall reached about 95% of the multiyear average, compared with 90% in the Kinneret basin and 85% in the Western Galilee. Authority director Yehezkel Lifshitz said northern natural water sources still carry the previous drought’s effects, underscoring the need for continuous monitoring and long-term planning.
