Health Ministry Warns of Rabies Exposure in Communities Near Modi’in

The Health Ministry issued a rabies-exposure warning for Lapid, Nahal Modi’im, Ganei Modi’in and Matityahu after receiving a report on October 19 of an infected stray dog. The white-and-brown female dog was seen on October 18 in Lapid, Nahal Modi’im and Ganei Modi’in. One exposed person was referred for preventive vaccination, and the dog attacked two domestic animals. The ministry urged anyone whose own contact or pet’s contact involved the dog or stray animals in the area from October 5 through 19 to seek urgent health-office assessment. Owners of potentially exposed pets should contact their municipal veterinarian.
