Rehovot Mayor Says Synagogue Allocation Proposal Still Faces Public Review

Rehovot Mayor Matan Dil said the proposed land allocation for the Shoneh Halachot synagogue at Herzl 141 still requires public review and further approvals. Responding to residents on October 20, he said the existing allocation runs through 2029 and that 25 years is the maximum period that may be considered, rather than an automatic entitlement. Dil said the process allows applications and objections, followed by professional examination and required approvals. He said the allocation committee reduced the original request from about 1,766 square metres to about 600 square metres, and residents could propose other public uses.
