France and Qatar Back Hezbollah Disarmament and Full Israeli Withdrawal From Lebanon

France and Qatar called for Hezbollah’s disarmament and a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon in a joint statement following President Emmanuel Macron’s October 20–21 visit to Doha. They urged support for Lebanese authorities and the Lebanese Armed Forces in implementing U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 and restoring state authority nationwide. The governments said UNIFIL’s approaching departure must not leave a security vacuum and backed a continuing international presence. On Gaza, they urged implementation of the ceasefire and President Donald Trump’s plan. They also endorsed a Palestinian state living alongside Israel in peace and security.
