U.S. Denies Joint Turkey Proposal for Lebanon, Reaffirms Israel–Lebanon Framework

U.S. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott denied that Washington and Turkey had put forward a joint proposal concerning Lebanon. He also rejected claims that the United States supported changing Lebanon’s political structure established under the Taif Accords. Pigott reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to working with Israel and Lebanon through the Trilateral Framework. He said its goals were to disarm Hezbollah, which he described as an Iranian terrorist proxy, secure lasting safety for both countries, and build peaceful neighborly relations based on sovereignty and territorial integrity. He welcomed international partners’ support for those aims.
