Amit Shah Reports 18 Arrests in Operation Trident Across Northeast India

India’s Home Minister Amit Shah said on October 25 that Operation Trident had led to 18 arrests after coordinated raids at 38 locations in Assam, Mizoram and Manipur on October 23. He said investigators uncovered ₹100 crore in hawala transactions and froze 1,424 bank accounts. Properties worth ₹17.82 crore were attached, while 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash were seized, according to Shah. He alleged that the network trafficked narcotics across India, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Shah credited central agencies and police in the three states for the operation.
