Benin and UAE Exchange Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

Benin and the United Arab Emirates exchanged a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in Abu Dhabi on October 25, with Presidents Romuald Wadagni and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessing the ceremony. According to the UAE announcement, the agreement will reduce or eliminate customs duties on a wide range of goods after ratification procedures are completed and it enters into force. It also aims to remove unnecessary trade barriers and improve access for service providers and investors. The announcement put bilateral non-oil trade at US$2.15 billion in 2025, up 65% from 2024.
