Blanche Defends Alaska Senate Lawsuit, Citing Potential Voter Confusion

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the Justice Department's Alaska Senate election lawsuit in a Sunday interview, arguing that ballots should be preserved to assess potential voter confusion. The dispute concerns Republican incumbent Dan S. Sullivan and challenger Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. appearing on the state's ranked-choice ballot. Blanche acknowledged that the election had not occurred and that the department did not yet know whether voters would be confused. He said certification should be opposed if a court ultimately determined that confusion, rather than voters' will, decided the result, while maintaining that Alaska's election system should determine the winner.
