Oyo Police Announce Rescue of Abducted Teenager and Death of Suspect

Police in Nigeria's Oyo State said on October 25 that officers had rescued Sumaila Muhammadu, 15, who was abducted from Onidundun in Akinyele local government area on October 18. The command said anti-kidnapping officers and the Oyo Zone Vigilante Group of Nigeria carried out the operation along the Awe-Iwo Road. Police said suspects fired on the team at the Pipeline-Ajagba location, and one unidentified suspected kidnapper died while others fled. The statement said officers recovered a phone and a cutlass.
