Tax Authority Reports Record 290,000 Passenger-Car Registrations in 2025

The Israel Tax Authority has released the first part of its review of the vehicle market in 2025. About 290,000 passenger cars were registered for road use, an increase of 8.4% from 2024 and a reported record. Vehicle imports nevertheless fell by 25% to about 250,000, with their total value declining by 20.9% to NIS 23.6 billion. The review links the gap to imports brought forward into December 2024 before tax increases took effect. Electric, conventional hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles together accounted for about 60% of passenger-car registrations in 2025.
