India Clears ₹2.12 Trillion in Defence Procurement Proposals

India's Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, granted in-principle approval on October 26 for procurement proposals worth an estimated ₹2.12 trillion. The Defence Ministry said about 82% of the proposed purchases would come from Indian industry. Army proposals include self-propelled guns, helicopters, air-defence systems, surveillance drones and long-range strike drones. Naval proposals cover active offboard decoys and other major platforms, while Air Force proposals include helicopters, weapons, air-defence systems and mobile X-band Doppler weather radar. The council granted Acceptance of Necessity, an initial administrative approval for the proposed acquisitions.
