UK Sanctions 15 Sudanese Commanders Over Suspected Atrocities

Britain imposed travel bans and asset freezes on 15 senior commanders from Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and Sudanese Armed Forces on October 26 over suspected atrocities, including conflict-related sexual violence. The government announced £5 million to support survivors through healthcare, psychosocial services and safe spaces for women and girls. A separate £10 million humanitarian package will support clean water and sanitation around Tawila, alongside health, protection and essential services in El Obeid. The announcement marks one year since El Fasher fell to the Rapid Support Forces following an 18-month siege.
